Election Process

The Newfoundland and Labrador (NLMA) is
asking its members who are also members of the Canadian Medical
Association (CMA) to elect the Newfoundland and Labrador nominee for
the position of CMA President-Elect for 2010-2011. Details of the
election process and profiles of the candidates were posted to the
NLMA website
today. An election package will be mailed to all members on
January 14, 2010.

Lifelong Health for Young Families - Janeway Lifestyle Program (PDF)
Posted December 17, 2009 The team from the Janeway Lifestyle
Program is offering sessions for any parent who wishes to learn more
about setting their children up for lifelong health with the most
up-to-date information about eating well, being active and feeling
good. Session 1 (ages 2 to 5), and Session 2
(ages 6 to 12) begin in January 2010 and will be led by a
Pediatrician, Dietician and a Psychologist. To register or for more
information on the Janeway Lifestyle Program, please call 777-4387.

Going 100% Smoke Free: More than Moving a Blue Line
(PDF)
January 13, 2010 The Smokers Helpline will facilitate
a conference call to provide an overview of the smoke free
properties policies that are now in place at each of the four
regional health authorities. Representatives from the regions will
share information regarding policy implementation, challenges and
successes. Suitable for health professionals, employers, businesses,
or any others interested in supporting smokers in quitting.

2010 NLMA Membership
Renewal

Deadline
February 15, 2010 Renewing your 2010 NLMA membership online is easy, secure and
ONLY available for Full, Retired, Non-Resident,
Resident, and Student categories; other categories please refer to
your paper invoice (mailed early January), or contact the NLMA.
In accordance with the
Medical Act,
membership in the NLMA is compulsory to practice in the province of
Newfoundland and Labrador. Failure to renew by
February 15 renders your license null and void and will
subject you to late payment charges.
