$3,000 What is the Gerry Lynch Memorial Scholarship? The Gerry Lynch Memorial Scholarship is awarded annually to a third (NEW FOR 2010) or fourth year medical student at Memorial University for the completion of a research paper on a medical/political topic. Gerry Lynch (1936-1994) served as Executive Director of the NLMA for 27 years. This scholarship’s focus reflects the contribution Mr. Lynch made to health care policy, both provincially and nationally. Who is eligible to apply? Applicants must be:

How does one apply? Applicants must submit a 1,500-2,000 word research paper, in both printed and electronic formats (Word or PDF), to:
How is the scholarship awarded? The recipient is selected by the Newfoundland and Labrador Medical Scholarship Foundation (NLMSF) Scholarship Selection Committee and approved by the NLMA Board of Directors, with the scholarship presented during the 2010 NLMA Annual General Meeting, which takes place in St. John’s on June 12. If the recipient cannot attend the presentation, alternate arrangements will be made. The winning paper is also posted to the NLMA website and sent to the CMA for possible publication in CMAJ. Who are the sponsors? The scholarship is provided by the Canadian Medical Foundation, a charitable organization dedicated to achieving excellence in health care through medical philanthropy. |
