Alzheimer Society introduces central registry
A central registry of people with Alzheimer Disease and other dementias is now in place through the Alzheimer Society of Newfoundland and Labrador.

A central registry of people with Alzheimer Disease and other dementias is now in place through the Alzheimer Society of Newfoundland and Labrador.
The registry is the first of its kind in Canada and will allow the Alzheimer Society to improve the delivery of its services to the individuals throughout the province who are affected by Alzheimer Disease, their families, caregivers and professionals. The Society will be able to increase its role in advocacy and budgetary planning.
Confidentiality is of the utmost importance, and confidentiality policies and procedures related to the registry are in force. Upon registration, individuals are informed of the vital role that confidentiality plays in ensuring the protection of registrant information.
Participants in the registry are recruited through various promotional efforts of the Alzheimer Society. The registry is based on a voluntary community-based model and is free of charge.
Brochures and posters to promote the registry are available by contacting the Society's office in St. John's. For more information on the registry, contact registry coordinator Karen Osborne at 709-576-0608 or 1-877-776-0608.
The Alzheimer Society of Newfoundland and Labrador is a charitable organization that exists to support the search for the cause and cure of Alzheimer Disease, its diagnosis, treatment and cure. It also exists to raise public awareness of the personal and social impact of the disease and to promote the provision of support to families and caregivers in Newfoundland and Labrador.
