Media Advisory NLMA annual meeting scheduled for June 27 in St. John’s Media | Media Advisories | News Releases | Statements | Backgrounders | Graphics | Letters to Editor | June 25, 2009 The annual general meeting of the Newfoundland and Labrador Medical Association (NLMA) will be held on Saturday, June 27 at the Holiday Inn in St. John’s. Incoming President Dr. Brendan Lewis, an orthopedic surgeon in Corner Brook, will focus on physician professionalism and restoring confidence in the province’s health care system. Also addressing the business meeting will be Dr. Robert Ouellet, president of the Canadian Medical Association (CMA). The NLMA will award honorary life memberships to Drs. James Dunne and Donald Tennent, both retired obstetrician/gynecologists from St. John’s. The honor is bestowed in recognition of distinguished service to the Association and for achievements in medicine. Dr. Spencer Bridger, a retired diagnostic radiologist from St. John’s, will receive the CMA’s honorary life membership award. Note to Editors The business session on June 27 will be closed to media representatives with the exception of the presentation of awards and installation of the new president, beginning at 12 noon.
