Bios
President
Dr. Patrick
O'Shea has practiced family medicine in St. John’s for the past
28 years, providing comprehensive office care, minor surgical
procedures, palliative care, and house calls. Dr. O’Shea obtained
his medical degree in 1980 at Queen’s University in Ontario. He
completed his residency at Memorial University and is a certified
Fellow of the College of Family Physicians of Canada. In 1986, he
co-founded the Newfoundland Drive Family Practice in St. John’s. Dr.
O’Shea is also a staff physician of both Chancellor Park and St.
Patrick’s Mercy Home long-term care facilities. He is also a
Clinical Associate Professor of Family Medicine at Memorial
University and is a member of the Canadian Palliative Care
Association. Dr. O’Shea served on the NLMA Board of Directors as the
Board Chair (2009-10) and Honorary Treasurer (2008-09) prior to
being elected President. In 2007, he received the Family Physician
of the Year Award from the provincial chapter of the College of
Family Physicians. |
