The Newfoundland and Labrador Medical Association (NLMA) is asking its members who are also members of the Canadian Medical Association (CMA) to elect the Newfoundland and Labrador nominee for the position of CMA President-Elect for 2010-2011.

You have the option to vote either by mail or electronically. To vote, you will require your CMA  Number and your unique Voting Password, which has been issued specifically for this election. These numbers can be found at the bottom of the ballot envelope included with the voting package.

The CMA and the NLMA have retained the services of Fair Vote Canada, a non-profit organization with electoral expertise, to help oversee the election. A past president of Fair Vote Canada, Wayne Smith, is providing assistance throughout the election period and will be present as Chief Returning Officer on the day that the ballots are counted.

A voting package was mailed to all CMA Members in the NLMA on January 14, 2010.

• Click the  Vote! Click to vote  button at the top of the yellow sidebar to the right on this page. Then click the link to the Voting page on the CMA website.
• Enter your CMA Number and Voting Password (located at the bottom of the ballot envelope included in the voting package mailed on January 14) to proceed to the electronic ballot.
• As instructed on the ballot page, enter numbers in the spaces beside each of the candidates’ names to rank your ballot.
• Once completed, you will be prompted to confirm your ballot. Once you click to do so, your vote will be recorded.

The electronic voting site will close at 5 pm on Thursday, February 25, 2010.

• Fill out the paper ballot included in the voting package.
• Place your completed ballot inside the ballot envelope and seal it.
  IMPORTANT The ballot must be returned in the numbered ballot envelope since your Voting Password will be used for validation purposes.
• Insert your ballot envelope in the prepaid return envelope and seal it.

Your vote will be counted only if received at the NLMA office in St. John’s before
5 pm on Thursday, February 25, 2010.
