Registration is now open for the 39th Annual Scientific and
Educational Meeting of the Canadian Association on Gerontology.
The proposed theme reflects the challenges faced in research on aging by both researchers and professionals working with older persons.

8th Annual Canadian Hospital Medicine
Conference
September 24-26, 2010
This fall join the Canadian Society of Hospital Medicine and
your hospitalists colleagues in Toronto, Ontario. The CSHM will be
hosting the 8th Annual Canadian Hospital Medicine Conference in the
luxurious Toronto Eaton Centre Marriott. From September 24th to
September 26th, take part in a Quality and Safety course, a
Procedural Skills lab, and a host exciting plenary and workshop
sessions. Hot topics include: Oncologic emergencies, surgical issues
for the hospitalist, patient safety, COPD, Acute Hepatitis,
Antibiotic Resistant Organisms, Hyperglycemia, Hyponatremia,

President's Letters
President’s Tour postponed to September
July 14, 2010
This week I had the
opportunity to attend a negotiations meeting with officials from
Treasury Board and the Department of Health. There are still a
number of significant issues that remain to be resolved. I have
requested meetings with Hon. Tom Marshall, Minister of Finance and
President of Treasury Board, and Health Minister Hon. Jerome Kennedy
and hope to have those meetings scheduled in the coming weeks. With
regards my President’s Tour, it quickly became evident that many of
you would not be available to attend due to vacations and other
commitments. Therefore, I have decided to postpone the Tour until
September, when more of you will be available to participate.

President of the Newfoundland and Labrador Medical Association
(NLMA) during its annual general meeting at the Johnson GEO Centre
on Saturday, June 12.
